After You Hit Send

What happens next.

  1. 01

    Reply within one business day.

Mara or Tomás read every brief personally and write back the next morning with a direct answer — yes, no, or a sharper reframing of the ask. No account managers in the loop.

  2. 02

    A 30-minute scoping call.

If the fit is real, we book a half-hour video call to pressure-test the scope, surface what the brief is missing, and confirm the budget. Calendar invite lands within 24 hours.

  3. 03

    Flat-fee proposal in 48 hours.

After the call, you receive a one-page proposal with a fixed scope, a fixed fee, a 21-day sprint calendar, and a partner signature. Sign, deposit, kickoff — no retainer, no open-ended hourly.

Before You Write

The five questions that stop founders from hitting send.

If anything below is unclear, write anyway — Mara or Tomás will clarify on the reply. But these are the ones we hear most.

Is there a minimum budget to start a project?

Yes. The studio floor is $25,000 for a 21-day sprint and $40,000 for a full identity + packaging system. Anything below that, we'll politely recommend a friend. The average project lands at $38K; the largest to date was a $215K beverage launch rebrand.

Do you take retainers?

No. Every engagement at Spoiled Ratten is fixed scope, fixed fee, fixed deadline. We have run zero retainer contracts since founding in 2019 and plan to keep it that way — it keeps the partner who pitches the work close to the partner who designs it.

Can the studio work remote, or do you need us in Brooklyn?

Either. Roughly 60% of the 312 projects we've shipped since 2019 ran fully remote across nine countries — the US, UK, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Japan, France, Germany, and South Korea. For kickoffs above $75K we'll travel for a one-day on-site at cost.

Who owns the IP at the end of the sprint?

You do. All working files, final artwork, type and tooling transfer at final invoice. The only thing we retain is the right to show the work in the studio archive and award submissions — and we will always ask before a public feature.

What should I include in the brief?

Three things: where the brand is now (a link, a deck, a paragraph), where it needs to be in twelve months (the metric you're chasing), and what's blocking it. A bad brief is fine — we'll sharpen it together on the call.
